Job Description

Primary Purpose

Responsible for efficient purchasing of all inventory and supplies for the company including negotiating price, delivery, and credit terms. Evaluates vendors and determines most cost-effective inventory and reorder levels.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Prepares and issues purchase orders, determines and negotiates prices as required by Supply Chain Manager and/or VP of Operations, confirms expected delivery schedules, negotiates credit terms, and maintains accurate purchasing records
  • Develops and implements procurement strategies designed to reduce costs and improve quality, service, and delivery from suppliers
  • Evaluates inventory reorder levels, MRP analysis, and quantity price breaks to determine most economical purchasing of inventory and supplies in relationship to the company’s cost of capital.
  • Reassess inventory requirements and make the necessary changes based on forecasts, actual sales, vendor performance to provide optimum inventory levels
  • Responsible for evaluating, assessing, and selection of vendors based on capabilities, performance, and consistent quality. Develop and maintain supplier relationships
  • Assist in achieving corporate goals related to inventory turns and purchase price goals
  • Prepares monthly KPI reports and advises Operation’s team of any delivery concerns
  • May perform other duties as required and/or assigned

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of associate’s degree from an accredited university or college, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ production and inventory control experience or exposure.
  • Understanding of work orders, job floor packets, material requirements planning, bills of material, and ERP systems
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with accounting and logistics principles
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with people

Certifications and Licenses

  • CPM preferred

Working Conditions

  • This position usually works regular business hours but may be required to work evenings and weekends to meet deadlines.
  • Works in an office and factories settings, may have to travel between sites locally. Job site and remote field work may be required as needed.
  • May work around heavy machinery, noisy, and/or dirty conditions.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, kneel, reach, lift, sit, in hot, cold, dusty, elevated, noisy area where foot and automated equipment movement, airborne, dust/fumes, and ultraviolet light are present.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
