About The Role

As a VAS Engineer-Signatures you will be performing daily protocols development activities based activities for AppLogic Networks’ key accounts. You’ll use your excellent attention to detail and investigative skills to monitor, identify and lead to resolution potential issues on a high availability production environment. Issues that are outside of your knowledge domain will be escalated to AppLogic Network's customer support for further investigation while you play a key role in communicating status updates to the customer and scheduling further investigation activities as require until resolution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and test critical applications, system health, logs, and alarms with a sense of urgency
  • Analyze and troubleshoot critical application traffic using specialized software tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, MRTG, PRTG, SNMP polling, and traffic analyzers)
  • Identify and characterize grey-listed critical applications and protocols traffic
  • Design and develop innovative solutions for monitoring and identifying critical applications and protocols
  • Lead technical analysis and cross-departmental discussions to resolve issues and implement preventative measures
  • Provide knowledge transfer and technical education to customers
  • Serve as a liaison between customer operations, AppLogic Networks Customer Support, Account Management, and engineering teams
  • Assist with escalation coordination, consultation, and technical leadership on complex support cases
  • Support team members in a cross-functional capacity with hands-on equipment and tool operations
  • Maintain excellent communication and documentation standards in all customer interactions


Required Qualifications

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Commanding knowledge of Unix-based operating systems (Linux, FreeBSD, etc.)
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages (Java, C/C++, Python, Perl)
  • Expert-level packet analysis experience with Wireshark, tcpdump, tcpreplay, or similar tools
  • Strong understanding of web application concepts (P2P, VoIP, WAP, MMS, RTSP)
  • Excellent networking background with strong IP technology expertise
  • In-depth knowledge of VoIP, IPTV, and video streaming protocols and architecture
  • Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end network call flows and relevant protocols (DHCP, RADIUS, DIAMETER, GRE, SIP, RTP, MGCP, H.323, RTCP)
  • Quality Assurance testing experience

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical role (network engineering, systems engineering, or similar)


Desired Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, and operation of network equipment (Cisco, Juniper, etc.)
  • Web technology experience (JavaScript, HTML5, HTTP)
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, OpenStack)
  • Understanding of NFV, MANO, and ONAMP frameworks
  • Experience with billing and charging systems (OCS, PCRF, PCEF)
  • Familiarity with industry best practices (Scrum, ITIL)
  • Data modeling, database administration, and SQL/PostgreSQL expertise
  • Background in data communication across various operator networks (Cable, DSL, FTTH, Wireless, LTE, GPRS-3G, CDMA-3G, GSM, UMTS)
  • SQL database, network traffic monitoring, or firewall technology experience in telecom, ISP, or cable internet environments
  • Chinese/ Mandarin language proficiency is good to have


Work Environment

  • Fast-paced office environment
  • Occasional extended hours and split shifts may be required
  • Occasional travel required
  • On-call support may be necessary during critical incidents
