The U.S. Mission to Australia is seeking a Public Affairs Assistant (Press & Media) to join the Public Affairs Section in Melbourne. This role supports media engagement and digital communications to advance U.S. policy priorities and strengthen public understanding of U.S.–Australia relations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with media across the consular district
- Monitor and analyze press coverage and advise leadership on media strategy
- Promote accurate reporting and counter misinformation
- Create and manage digital content across social media and web platforms
- Contribute to editorial planning and audience engagement campaigns
- Support multimedia production and public outreach initiatives
Qualifications:
- Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in media, communications, or public affairs
- Strong writing, analytical, and digital content skills
- Fluent English required

- Full-time (40 hours/week)
