About the role | Mō te tūranga:
Our Biochemistry Department is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and capable Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. This is a permanent, full-time role of 80 hours per fortnight, rostered and rotating across a variety of 8 hour shifts covering a 24/7 roster pattern. Please note this includes night and weekend shifts as required.
In these roles, you will play a key part in supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the department. Working collaboratively with a supportive and skilled team, you will carry out a range of medical laboratory technician duties that contribute directly to high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse blood samples following established biochemistry protocols and procedures.
- Report results in line with quality standards and client specifications.
- Ensure timely turnaround of results while upholding quality and technical standards.
- Contribute to quality control, operational improvements, and efficiency initiatives within the biochemistry team.
To be successful in this role:
- The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.
- A team focus with initiative, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and possess the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Sound knowledge of laboratory operations including, safety, quality assurance processes, operation of equipment and hands-on practical experience.
- Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand under the scope of Medical Laboratory Technician and a current Annual Practicing Certificate is desirable.
- Available to work rostered and rotating nights, weekends and evenings. Please note these hours attract penal rates.
- Current eligibility to work in New Zealand.
