He angitūtanga: The opportunity

In the Building Consents department, our mission is to ensure that buildings across Auckland are safe, functional, and compliant with all regulations. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service while conducting thorough and accurate compliance assessments for a diverse range of building and development projects.

We are currently seeking motivated individuals to join our Project Assessment team based at our Auckland CBD and Manukau hubs. You will play a crucial part in supporting our customers by providing timely and precise information about building and development matters.

On a day-to-day basis, you'll be processing complex building consent applications and providing guidance to peers and industry professionals on project strategies and alternative solutions. Your in-depth knowledge of building regulations and legislation will be essential as you offer technical advice and support to our internal and external stakeholders to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.

You Could Expect To Work On

  • Review and assess building consent applications to ensure compliance with the New Zealand Building Code, the Building Act, and other relevant legislation
  • Manage case files efficiently and help customers understand regulatory requirements
  • Offer clear guidance and advice on the application process to ensure smooth and accurate application submissions
  • Provide expert advice and support to industry professionals, fostering best practices
  • Stay current with changes in legislation and regulations to educate customers on up to-date building code expectations.
  • Effectively manage assigned work to meet organisational goals and financial obligations.

We will be looking for specific experience with these key role requirements:

  • National Diploma in Building Control Surveying or equivalent qualification, or relevant professional qualification recognised under Regulation 18 (IANZ). Please click HERE for further details
  • At least 5 years of cumulative industry experience working with large scale commercial development projects, including proven experience in Building Consents Processing and familiarity with relevant codes and regulations
  • Extensive knowledge in building design and/or construction and its effective monitoring and/or engineering disciplines
  • A current Building Consent processing competency of RES 3 or higher would be highly advantageous

The remuneration range for the role is $90,000 - $96,000 per annum (based on relevant skills and experience)

Our employer Kiwisaver contribution is additional to base salary offered.
