The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based, non-promotional scientific expert responsible for building and maintaining peer-to-peer relationships with external stakeholders. The MSL communicates up-to-date scientific data, gathers actionable insights, and supports the safe and effective use of company products. In specific local settings, the MSL may contribute to the medical review of promotional materials, respond to medical information requests, and help organize scientific events, especially in resource-limited settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and nurture long-term, trust-based relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), and relevant scientific societies
  • Deliver fair, balanced, and evidence-based scientific information on approved products and pipeline assets through presentations and scientific discussions
  • Initiate and manage local and regional medical projects in close collaboration with cross-functional teams (e.g., clinical operations, market access), ensuring alignment with medical strategy and compliance standards.
  • Organize and support advisory boards, scientific meetings, congresses, and local educational events to facilitate scientific exchange
  • Document stakeholder interactions and capture medical insights using designated CRM systems (e.g., Veeva Medical CRM)

Scientific Support & Medical Education :

  • Provide scientific support to internal teams (e.g., sales, market access) while strictly adhering to non-promotional standards.
  • Present clinical and scientific data to both internal and external audiences.
  • Identify educational needs among HCPs and develop tailored medical education initiatives.
  • Support the planning and execution of local clinical studies (e.g., Phase IV, NIS, IITs) in collaboration with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations.
  • Contribute to the review and approval of promotional materials, ensuring scientific accuracy and compliance.
  • Participate in internal training sessions (e.g., product training, scientific updates).

Medical Information & Requests:

  • Act as the primary contact for medical inquiries from HCPs, ensuring accurate, timely, and scientifically balanced responses in coordination with Global/Regional Medical Information teams. Escalate complex requests as appropriate.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure all interactions/activities comply with local regulations, industry codes (e.g., EFPIA, local pharma code), and company SOPs.
  • Maintain documentation and contribute to audit readiness.

Requriements:

  • Advanced degree in a scientific or medical discipline (MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent); alternatively, an MSc with a strong scientific background and relevant field experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Medical Affairs or as a Medical Science Liaison, ideally within a similar therapeutic area (other areas also possible).
  • Proven experience in engaging with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and scientific communication is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong team orientation and high level of self motivation.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the country.

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with medical governance systems (e.g. approval platforms, Medical Information databases).
  • Experience in the review and approval of promotional materials or in responding to medical information inquiries.
