- Advanced Subject Mastery: Deep knowledge of quadratic and polynomial functions, exponential functions, trigonometric functions, discrete functions including sequences and series, and financial mathematics including compound interest and annuities. Ability to explain function transformations, sinusoidal modeling, and geometric series applications while preparing students for grade twelve advanced functions and university mathematics.
- Conceptual Teaching & Problem-Solving: Skilled at breaking down function analysis, trigonometric equation solving, and financial calculation problems. Guides students through graphing polynomial and exponential functions, modeling periodic phenomena with sinusoidal functions, and solving compound interest and annuity problems. Emphasizes mathematical modeling skills and connects functions to real-world contexts including investments, sound waves, and population growth.
- Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with grade eleven math curricula including Ontario MCR3U and MCF3M, and common challenges such as understanding radian measure, applying compound interest formulas, and distinguishing arithmetic from geometric sequences. Adapts instruction using graphing technology, financial calculators, and real-world scenarios to support students at university and college preparation levels.
- Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
