The Amazon Aviation Security (AvSec) team is seeking an enthusiastic, customer obsessed AvSec Security Specialist to provide support and oversight for its Aviation Security operations in Australia. The role would encompass new initiatives for the transportation supply chain. Responsibilities include supporting the regional AvSec operations and ensuring compliance with corporate policies, federal regulations, and standardized processes. The AvSec Specialist performs ongoing assessments of operating risks and the development of appropriate mitigation strategies to sustain business operations, existing and future.

This key role supports the AvSec operation programs implements and validates security requirements, to ensure associates, third party vendors, visitors, and assets are secure and the organization is prepared to properly respond to various security related incidents. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to utilize their security expertise and management strength to challenge conventional wisdom, think strategically, communicate effectively, and deliver results.
Key job responsibilities
The AvSec Specialist responsibilities include managing ambiguity through knowledge to decide who does which tasks to meet daily goals. They may seek direction and/or need coaching on management skills. This position will assist with developing the right workforce strategy to meet long-term process targets. This position will directly support a team of 3rd party vendors.
The AvSec Specialist responsibilities also include verifying compliance with security procedures and regulatory standards, physical security design standards and policies and utilize Security Management Systems (SeMS) processes for risk mitigation. Additional responsibilities include developing new and evaluating existing security standards by establishing workflows, SLAs, and operational excellence mechanisms by ensuring customer outcomes are data driven, measured and validated.
A day in the life
- Supervisor and tactical management in an area with procedures or workflow;
- Conducts audits and security assessments to ensure compliance;
- Facilitates successful results for customers;
- Recommends improvements to tools and procedures;
- Utilizes industry and Amazon best practices for the secure transportation of air cargo;
- Supports operational teams from a regulatory and security perspective;
- Reports and manages risks;
- Supports crisis management planning and emergency response;
- Supports investigations of regulatory violations and mitigates risk;
- Supports a single facility and develops team members. Supports leadership by managing problems and escalating roadblocks.
The Aviation Security and Regulatory Compliance (AvSec) team is responsible for security, loss prevention, and regulatory compliance at Amazon. The organization is built with four core pillars; Security Management Systems, Programs and Quality Assurance, Security Operations, and Credentialing. The Team is committed to identifying and mitigating risk to people, Amazon assets, Amazon brand and regulatory compliance. The foundation of the organization and the risk mitigation and continuous improvement programs, are built on the principles of a robust Security Management Systems (SeMS).
Basic Qualifications
- Experience with MS Office, MS Excel, and data retrieval languages
- 3+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
