The USC Mann Division of Healthcare and Biopharmaceutical Business seeks an experienced and innovative adjunct lecturer to teach a course in healthcare literature analysis and applications. This graduate-level course provides a practical framework for systematic literature review and critical evaluation of health economics, outcomes research, clinical trials, comparative effectiveness research, and product literature across pharmaceuticals, biologics, and diagnostics. A central focus of this course is the application of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and advanced digital tools in literature review, research synthesis, and evaluation of healthcare evidence. The ideal candidate will bring both methodological expertise and applied experience using AI-enabled tools to enhance evidence assessment, research planning, and healthcare decision-making.

Course: HCDA 525 - Healthcare Literature Analysis and Applications.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MPH, MS, or equivalent) in health economics, outcomes research, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, healthcare analytics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in healthcare literature evaluation, HEOR, CER, clinical research design, and biostatistics.
  • Experience using AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics tools in research evaluation, evidence synthesis, or healthcare analytics.
  • Working knowledge of AI-assisted literature review platforms, large language models, or automated research tools.
  • Understanding of research reporting standards (e.g., CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE) and healthcare research ethics.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

The hourly rate range for this position is $100.00 - $250.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
