Alvarez & Marsal is seeking an Associate Director / Director to lead its Debt Capital Markets (DCM) offering within the Financial Services (FS) practice, driving funding strategy and DCM execution for FIG and corporate clients across Central Eurasia region (Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan).

The Team
The FS practice in Central Eurasia is rapidly expanding and serves banks, fintechs, insurance companies, microfinance institutions, payment providers as well as the clients from traditional industries with FS angle across Central Eurasia. The team supports clients in strategy and digital transformation, corporate venture and M&A, fintech solutions and product development, customer service and CRM, ALM and risk management, underpinned by a strong execution culture and clear engagement governance.
Within this platform, the DCM capability focuses on funding strategy, Eurobond and broader DCM execution, regulatory capital instruments and adjacent funding channels for regional financial institutions and corporates.
Role Overview
The Associate Director / Director will own core client relationships and lead multi-workstream mandates covering funding strategy and DCM transactions, from origination through execution. You will shape the client agenda, design actionable funding roadmaps, lead deal processes and mentor a growing team, working closely with FS leadership to build a scalable DCM franchise in the region.
You will be a key point of contact for treasuries, CFOs and business leaders, combining strategic advisory with practical, investor-grade execution support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of multi-instrument funding strategies and roadmaps, including instrument selection, sequencing, currencies, tenors and investor base diversification.
- Advise on capital structure and liability profile optimization, including trade-offs between markets, formats (bonds, loans, private placements, regulatory capital) and target investor segments.
- Originate and shape DCM and funding mandates with existing and new FS clients, in coordination with A&M country and FS leaders
- Lead end-to-end Eurobond and related DCM executions (including open market and private placements where relevant), from mandate to settlement.
- Oversee investor materials and coordinate documentation, ratings, listing and settlement workstreams with legal counsel, auditors, rating agencies and other external stakeholders.
- Design and manage multi-workstream project structures and ensure all client communications, materials and deliverables meet A&M’s quality standards
- Drive implementation of agreed funding strategies and transaction plans, removing obstacles and aligning internal and external stakeholders around key milestones.
- Contribute to the development of DCM methodologies, tools and templates (funding strategy packs, readiness checklists, investor materials, execution playbooks) and support business development initiatives
Core skills
- Strong DCM and funding understanding, with the ability to discuss instruments, structures and investor considerations credibly with treasurers, CFOs and investors.
- Proven personal network of institutional investors, bank treasuries and other market counterparts, and readiness to actively leverage these relationships in bond placements, including pre-marketing, price discovery, bookbuilding support and targeted investor outreach.
- Demonstrated ability to structure complex projects, prioritize across multiple mandates and maintain clear oversight of risks, decisions and dependencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to synthesize complex funding options into concise, board-ready materials and executive narratives.
- Advanced numerical and analytical capabilities, with strong command of Excel and transaction-related analytics, and the judgment to challenge assumptions and outputs.
- Proven leadership skills, including coaching junior team members, managing upwards and navigating multi-stakeholder environments in banks and financial institutions.
- Typically 8–12+ years of experience in DCM, treasury, funding or related capital markets roles in a bank, financial institution, investment firm, or in consulting focusing on such clients.
- Track record of leading or playing a central role in Eurobond or other capital markets issuances, syndicated or club loans, or structured funding facilities.
- Experience working with emerging markets issuers and investors, ideally in Central Eurasia region.
- Exposure to regulatory capital instruments (AT1, Tier 2, subordinated debt) and liability management is an advantage.
- Fluency in English and Russian is required; additional regional languages are a plus.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the region to support origination, execution and client relationship development.
