Position Title: Assistant Baseball Coach

Position Summary

The Assistant Baseball Coach at Coker University supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the NCAA Division II baseball program, including coaching, recruiting, scouting, practice planning, player development, academic monitoring, and administrative duties. The successful candidate will contribute to fostering a positive team culture and help develop well-rounded student-athletes who succeed on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and implementing practice sessions and game strategies.
  • Provide individual and team instruction focused on skill development, technique, and game preparation.
  • Recruit and evaluate prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA, SAC, and University guidelines.
  • Assist with game-day operations, including travel coordination, scouting reports, and equipment management.
  • Monitor student-athlete academic progress and support academic success initiatives.
  • Help foster a team culture of respect, discipline, integrity, and commitment to excellence.
  • Participate in fundraising, alumni engagement, and community service events as required.
  • Adhere to all institutional, conference, and NCAA policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to student-athletes on and off the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Collegiate playing or coaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel as needed.
  • CPR certification required.
