About the role:

As an Associate Lecturer, you will support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning experiences in game art and development. Working alongside Lecturers and Senior Lecturers, you will help guide students through practical and theoretical components, ensuring they build the technical and creative skills needed for the industry.


You will contribute to engaging, student-centred learning across on-campus classes, while supporting assessment, feedback, and student progression. This role is ideal for someone passionate about games, creative technologies, and helping emerging talent succeed.


Key Points About This Role

  • Game Art & Pipeline Delivery
  • Support teaching across the full asset pipeline from concept to engine integration, ensuring industry relevance and practical application.
  • Student-Centred Learning
  • Deliver engaging, inclusive learning experiences tailored to diverse student needs and learning styles.
  • Technical Enablement
  • Embed industry tools and technologies into teaching, supporting hands-on development of game-ready assets.
  • Assessment & Feedback Excellence
  • Assist with assessment and provide timely, constructive feedback to support student progression and success.
  • Collaboration & Academic Support
  • Work closely with academic teams and student services to identify and support students at risk.


Who you are:

  • Game Art & Technical Expertise
  • Strong skills in 2D/3D tools including Photoshop, Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter and Designer.
  • End-to-End Pipeline Knowledge
  • Experience across concept, modelling, texturing, rigging, animation and engine integration.
  • Game Engine Proficiency
  • Working knowledge of Unreal, Unity and/or Godot, with strong Unreal blueprinting and basic C# in Unity.
  • Teaching & Communication Skills
  • Ability to break down complex concepts for first-year students, with strong academic writing and communication skills.
  • Student Support & Engagement
  • Confident providing one-on-one support in labs or online, with a passion for student success and development.
  • Appropriate qualification in the relevant discipline for level of teaching (qualified to at least one Qualification Standards level higher than the course of study being taught)
  • Where an individual is not qualified to at least one Qualification Standard level higher, equivalency must be determined and approved by the Program Director

This is a part-time, fixed-term position until December 2026. Applicants must be based in Auckland and available to deliver classes in person.
