As an Autonomous Systems Engineer (f/m/d), you are part of the engineering team at Sthenos AI and contribute actively to the development of intelligent and autonomous software systems. You work on the implementation, integration, and optimization of software components across the stack of autonomous systems while collaborating closely with senior engineers, AI specialists, and platform teams.

  • You contribute to the design and implementation of software components for autonomous and AI-driven systems
  • You develop and maintain software primarily in C++ and Python
  • You participate in the implementation of modules related to perception, localization, planning, sensor integration, or system orchestration
  • You collaborate with senior engineers on architectural decisions and technical improvements
  • You integrate and test autonomous frameworks and middleware solutions
  • You contribute to simulation, validation, and debugging activities for autonomous applications
  • You write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices
  • You conduct peer reviews and actively participate in improving code quality and engineering standards
  • You contribute to CI/CD workflows and software deployment activities
  • You support troubleshooting and optimization activities in development and production environments
  • You contribute to ensuring quality, reliability, and safety throughout the software lifecycle
  • You actively collaborate in cross-functional engineering teams and contribute to a positive engineering culture


Your Skills

  • 1+ years of professional experience in Software Engineering, Robotics, or Autonomous Systems with good expertise in C++ and Python
  • Understanding of core autonomous systems concepts such as perception, localization, sensor fusion, planning, or control
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, and Linux-based development
  • Experience with Git, collaborative development workflows, debugging, and writing maintainable, testable code
  • Familiarity with APIs, multithreading, containerization, and modern software development practices


Nice to Have

  • Experience with autonomous frameworks, robotics middleware, or ROS/ROS2 ecosystems
  • Familiarity with simulation and validation environments for autonomous systems
  • Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native environments, or edge computing
  • Exposure to AI/ML integration within robotics or autonomous platforms
  • Experience working with sensors such as LiDAR, cameras, GNSS, IMUs, or radar
