Job Description
- Perform routine molecular diagnostic tests (PCR, qPCR, etc.) in line with laboratory requirements
- Apply hands-on experience in nucleic acid extraction methods and demonstrate a solid understanding of sequencing, next-generation sequencing (NGS), and bioinformatics tools and applications
- Execute nucleic acid extraction processes and ensure accuracy and reliability of results
- Develop, optimize, and validate molecular diagnostic methods and protocols
- Design primers/probes and improve disease-specific testing approaches
- Analyze, interpret, and report test results through laboratory information systems
- Prepare and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for molecular laboratory processes
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with ISO 17025 quality standards and documentation requirements
- Establish and maintain internal quality control systems
- Monitor laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, and proper usage
- Follow and implement new technologies, diagnostic kits, and scientific developments
- Support serology and bacteriology laboratories when required and collaborate across units
- Prepare and report weekly laboratory activities and test outputs to the Laboratory Manager
Specific Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in molecular laboratory techniques
- Strong experience in PCR, qPCR, and nucleic acid extraction methods
- Experience in molecular test development and validation is preferred
- Experience in veterinary diagnostics and/or poultry diseases is an asset
- Knowledge on ISO 17025 laboratory standards is preferred
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Veterinary Medicine, Biology, Microbiology, or related fields
- Reporting: Ability to analyze, interpret, and report laboratory data accurately
- Communication: Clear and effective communication with internal stakeholders
- Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving and data interpretation skills
