⚖️ Join California's Clean Energy Future as an Attorney III
The California Energy Commission is seeking an experienced Attorney III to provide expert legal counsel on some of California's most innovative energy, climate, and public policy initiatives.
In this role, you'll work with significant independence and broad discretion to advise executive leadership, commissioners, and program staff on complex legal matters involving energy programs, regulations, contracts, grants, legislation, administrative proceedings, and federally funded initiatives.
What You'll Do:
✔ Draft and review legislation, regulations, solicitations, and agreements supporting groundbreaking energy programs.
✔ Provide legal guidance on complex transactions, compliance requirements, and program implementation.
✔ Represent the Commission in administrative hearings and proceedings before state agencies.
✔ Collaborate with the Attorney General's Office on litigation involving Commission programs and agreements.
✔ Advise on open meeting laws, public records requests, political reform requirements, Tribal engagement, confidentiality matters, and other agency-wide legal issues.
✔ Support California's transition to a clean, reliable, and equitable energy future.

• Professionals who can independently manage complex assignments and provide practical legal solutions.
• Experience with administrative law, regulatory matters, contracts, grants, legislation, public sector law, energy policy, environmental law, or related practice areas is highly desirable.
