Our client, a prominent shipowner in the maritime industry, is seeking an experienced Capacity Planning Manager to join their commercial team. This pivotal role focuses on strategic vessel capacity allocation, optimising vessel utilisation to drive maximum efficiency, profitability, and service reliability across global trade lanes.

You will collaborate closely with Sales, Pricing, Vessel Planning and Line management teams to optimise container allocations onboard vessels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with regional and commercial teams to manage cargo intake and voyage planning, ensuring on-time delivery and high customer satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive capacity plans aligned with forecasts from Commercial, Logistics, and Line Management.
  • Analyse volume trends, historical data, and market signals to recommend optimal tonnage and vessel deployment for forthcoming voyages.
  • Manage short-notice changes (e.g., cargo transfers, port omissions, or schedule adjustments) to reduce disruptions and control costs effectively.
  • Optimise cargo mix per voyage to maximise revenue and financial returns, while aligning with long-term strategy, customer commitments, and competitive dynamics.
  • Proactively identify operational enhancements to improve fleet efficiency and resource utilisation.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships and transparent communication with internal stakeholders to enable seamless capacity decision-making.
  • Track competitor moves, market developments, and industry trends; translate insights into actionable strategic recommendations.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in vessel capacity planning/allocation, commercial operations, or closely related roles within the shipping/container liner industry.
  • Proven strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex data, detect trends, and support data-driven recommendations and decisions.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated success working across cross-functional and international teams.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-performing shipowner in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. If you have the maritime expertise and strategic mindset we're seeking, please apply now!
