Take hold of a monster opportunity and join Australian Retirement Trust as our Claims Manager, where you'll support members through life and disability claims with empathy and expertise, while building your capability through structured training and being part of a collaborative, purpose-led team focused on positive return-to-work outcomes.

Description
We're all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Claims Manager, you'll deliver professional, end-to-end claims management services across life, disability, and income protection claims. You'll take a proactive and holistic approach, engaging with members, employers, and healthcare professionals to support recovery and return-to-work outcomes.

You'll be backed by a structured in-house training program designed to build your technical capability, strengthen your decision-making, and elevate your approach to case management. Your work will combine analytical thinking with genuine care, ensuring every member experience is handled with empathy, transparency and professionalism.
This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane.

Responsibilities
Day to day, you'll:

  • Manage a portfolio of life, disability and income protection claims from start to resolution.
  • Assess complex medical, contractual and occupational information to determine benefit entitlements.
  • Conduct insightful conversations with members to understand their circumstances and support needs.
  • Develop tailored case management and return-to-work plans focused on positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, employers and stakeholders to progress claims effectively.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately, including delivering difficult decisions when required.
  • Prioritise competing tasks to meet service expectations and compliance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance member experience.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all claims activities meet regulatory and organisational standards.

Qualifications
It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

  • You bring experience in customer-focused roles, ideally handling sensitive client interactions.
  • Your ability to analyse complex information supports confident and well-reasoned decisions.
  • You'll demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills across varied audiences.
  • You're highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and care.
  • You understand how to approach challenging situations with empathy, professionalism and integrity.
  • Your flexibility allows you to adapt to changing policies, processes and member needs.
  • You'll collaborate effectively within a team, sharing insights and supporting outcomes.
  • You're experienced in insurance, claims, rehabilitation or related industries (desirable).
  • You hold, or are working towards, a relevant qualification in insurance, finance or health (desirable).
