A Day in the Life of a Director of Environmental Services

The Environmental Services Director is integral in managing both the Environmental and Laundry services to ensure they meet the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency. This role involves rigorous quality assurance checks, establishing and updating procedures that comply with all regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement of these services. The Director is also tasked with the hiring, training, and performance management of staff, ensuring that all team members are well-equipped and knowledgeable about current standards and practices. Collaboration with various departments, including Human Resources and Employee Health, is vital to synchronize efforts in staff welfare, infection control, and operational efficacy. The role requires strategic resource management, from conducting inventory checks to evaluating new products and technologies that could enhance service delivery.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Required

  • Three years of supervisory or management experience
  • Associate's degree

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Institutional housekeeping or laundry experience, knowledge, and skills of the principles and practices of housekeeping/laundry management
  • Membership or certification to a related professional association

The pay range listed above is the estimated starting pay range for this role. Actual pay rate offered depends on many factors including each individual's experience level, preferred education/certifications, along with market conditions.
