
Position: Supervisor Data I/O
Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite)
Pay Range: $25.00 - $29.00 CAD hourly
Position Summary
Company 3 is looking to hire a Supervisor, Vault and Data I/O to its global team. As a Vault/Data Supervisor at Company 3 you will be responsible for managing all work performed by the reporting data technicians and vault technicians, defining best practices with respect to all asset related tasks, communicating with production staff and advising on project workflows as needed.
Main Duties
We are seeking a leader with strong people management skills. They will supervise data/vault technicians and enforce best practices, handle staff scheduling, and provide effective training for new and existing employees. They will act as a testbed for all tasks destined to be performed by technicians and coordinate with internal scheduling and production staff to make project storage assignments (for conform and dailies). They will work with production staff in all other partner locations to facilitate project movement and be able to advise on client requirements as they relate to data hosting and transfer. Other duties include:
- Provide support for all departments (dailies, conform, editorial, sound, and vfx).
- Have a working understanding of each of their day-to-day operations, and communicate with production staff to address workflow changes, client or internal.
- Responsible for tracking and cataloguing digital project records and ability to understand bespoke tools (vendor or internal) and effectively train staff on its use cases.
- Address and iterate upon any workflows and systems, working with engineering and production staff to accommodate client requirements, manage and perform vendor on-boarding for various client platforms occasionally on behalf of other production staff.
- Occasionally participate in client facing troubleshooting, as they relate to data deliveries.
- Oversee all Vault/Shipping activity for the commercial, audio, Dailies and Feature Film business lines.
- Ensure timely delivery of elements in and out of the Vault (including throughout the facility).
- Communicate with other department heads regarding Vault performance and other department needs to ensure a superior level of service and communication.
- Track and maintain digital records or paperwork such as work orders, shipping/receiving manifests.
- Manage and coordinate all LTO movement, shipping, labeling, and ordering.
- Assist in coordinating and scheduling Vault Operators in order to maintain appropriate coverage at all times.
- Perform regular Vault Security Audits as needed.
The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills. They will bring previous experience with Linux, Mac and Windows operating systems and shell-based tools. They will have familiarity with Color Science and image processing. They will bring experience with production tools including DaVinci Resolve, AutoDesk Flame and Avid. The ideal candidate will also bring the following:
- LTO and related archiving software
- Have a working knowledge of render software such as Colorfront OSD and Transkoder
- Have high proficiency in Bash or equivalent Unix Shell
- Regularly exercises critical thought and creative problem solving
- Experience managing a team of 5, typically working asynchronously
- Be familiar with ticketing and project management systems such as JIRA,
- ClickUp, or other Agile style task tracking software
- Excellent ability to triage and delegate tasks to team
- Familiar with commonly used production cameras (ARRI, RED, Sony, etc..)
- Is constantly engaged in learning and testing new technologies
- Superior Customer Service skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize within a deadline driven environment.
