What You'll Be Doing
Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, servos, and AC/DC drives
Support panel builds, system integration, debugging, and system testing
Participate in on-site startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting
Work closely with technicians, vendors, and internal engineering teams
Interface with customers during project execution and startup when needed
What We're Looking For
This role is best suited for a well-rounded controls engineer who can contribute across the full automation lifecycle with minimal ramp-up.
The team is looking for someone who is comfortable both designing systems and supporting real-world startup and troubleshooting.
Key capabilities include:
PLC programming from scratch and independent troubleshooting (Rockwell / Allen-Bradley preferred)
HMI development and configuration
Motion control integration including servos, VFDs, I/O, instrumentation, and field device integration
Electrical design including schematics, control panel layouts, and BOM development
Experience using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar design tools
Commissioning experience including startup, debugging, and field support
Minimum Requirements
5+ years of experience wiring and building electrical control panels from prints
Hands-on experience with small-gauge wire soldering and proper termination techniques
Strong understanding of industrial control panel construction
Experience requiring high attention to detail in electrical or controls work
Comfortable using basic computer tools (Word, documentation systems, file management)
Strong ownership mindset and pride in quality of work
What You Bring to the Team:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in control systems engineering in a continuous and/or discrete manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated electrical and control system engineering capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to provide solutions to basic project and process engineering problems.
- Solid knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI applications (including programming) along with communications within enterprise and control networked systems.
- Must be able to read/understand electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Demonstrated knowledge in the application of the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace - arc flash energy and shock hazards.
- Demonstrated success managing projects $50k - $200k
- Demonstrated capabilities in working collaboratively with internal and external engineering resources.
- Must possess good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated drive and initiative to complete assigned tasks and investigate and seek out improvement opportunities.
