About The Role

Are you passionate about supporting families and working with children ages 3 to 5? As a Family Service Worker, you'll provide essential support to families through home visits, calls, and emails. What You'll Do

  • Provide coverage across Matternville/State College area (travel required; mileage/time reimbursed per policy)
  • Work 40 hours/week for 40 weeks/year
  • Assist families in their home with goal planning and completion of program-required paperwork
  • Provide monthly contacts to families via home visits, phone calls, and emails
  • Identify family needs and resources, and assist in setting and working on goals
  • Foster strong communication between families and teachers
  • Promote family self-sufficiency and participation in parent meetings and activities.
  • Support parents in their role as their child's first teacher, offering guidance and practical suggestions.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided and comply with all required documentation standards.
  • Attend trainings and professional development opportunities to enhance skills.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Willingness to complete Family Service Worker credentialing within 18 months of hire
  • Experience working with both children and adults.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Head Start regulations preferred.
  • Must obtain the following clearances prior to hire: PA State Police Criminal History, PA Child Abuse History, FBI Criminal History, and Mandated Reporting Certificate
  • Ability to reach over head.
  • Lift and carry objects over thirty (30) pounds.
  • Bend to reach objects from the floor.
  • Stand for extended period of time with reasonable breaks.
  • Operate office machines.
  • Sit for extended period of time with reasonable breaks.
  • Vision and hearing within normal limits.
