We’re looking for an experienced supply chain professional to join our Electric Power global team as a Supply Chain Manager at our Griffin, Georgia facility.
Our business focuses on designing and manufacturing custom power solutions, and with our continued growth, we need a strong supply chain leader with deep expertise in supply chain design and management in addition to extensive leadership. This role is essential to the success of our Griffin operations and the broader North American supply chain, ensuring we meet customer demands efficiently and effectively.
In this role, you will lead a team of managers, individual contributors, and logistics professionals, overseeing supply chain planning, scheduling, inventory management, logistics coordination, and material cost reduction initiatives. You will be responsible for ensuring the timely availability of materials to support operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in process transformation, excelling in a fast-paced environment while driving continuous improvement and implementing innovative solutions. Strong leadership and expertise in all aspects of people management are essential for success in this role.
Our Griffin-based supply chain manages planning and supply to both our own manufacturing operations and those of our solution package suppliers. This creates a highly interconnected supply network spanning multiple business units across North America.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate SAP experience and a strong grasp of supply chain planning logic, with the ability to translate theory into practical application. They must possess a deep understanding of compliance within the supply chain, strong financial acumen for planning and team management, and expertise in transportation, storage, and inventory planning
What You Will Do
- Efficiently plans and manages inventory to align with production demands while controlling surplus stock. Develops strategic guidelines and processes to optimize inventory utilization and maximize efficiency.
- Facilitates clear communication with operations, procurement, logistics, and distribution, developing integrated processes to optimize and streamline the supply chain.
- Coordinating with sales, engineering, and facilities management to align production schedules and ensure timely delivery of expected outcomes.
- Managing and directing the logistics specialists, including training, hiring, and coaching.
- Establishing key performance metrics and benchmarks to guide supply chain planning and forecasting; monitoring planned vs. actual performance and presenting results to senior management.
- Owns the North America scheduling and capacity planning elements that support both Griffin and our integrated supply base.
- Leads a portfolio of projects and initiatives to drive efficiency and compliance
Performance Management: Knowledge of how to deliver feedback, recognize achievement, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Ability to define and agree upon performance goals and objectives with associates.
- Ability to identify performance problem areas early on and defines specific improvement activities.
- Ability to adjust and communicate performance objectives as necessary for team objectives.
- Ability to adapt documents and presentations for the intended audience – this role will report to senior leaders in our organization
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the employee workforce
- Knowledge of appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement.
- Knowledge of how to devise standard inventory management benchmarks to improve the processes.
- Ability to provides guidance on inventory management for a specific product group or location.
- Knowledge of how to apply systems and processes to identify and coordinate inventory requirements; resolves conflicts.
- Ability to coordinate daily work of inventory management for different locations within a facility or a supply network.
- Ability to manage logistics processes through process improvement, prioritization, and project planning.
- Knowledge of how to develop and analyze logistics plans that affect production, distribution, and inventory.
- Ability to work with historical, legislative and practical issues associated with domestic freight.
- Knowledge of contract negotiations and interfaces with selected carriers necessary to maintain expected levels of service.
- Ability to consult on all major logistics processes, their interactions and operational requirements.
- Ability to monitor supplier performance; works to resolve discrepancies between performance and agreements.
- Ability to develop quality standards and controls for suppliers.
- Ability to build and maintain partnerships with multiple and/or large suppliers.
- Ability to evaluate issues and terminate supplier relationships as appropriate; works with legal departments.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations, Engineering, or related field
- APICS CSCP Certification
- Previous usage of SAP software
- Up to 15% Domestic travel to be expected
- Relocation is available for this position.

- This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
Summary Pay Range
$147,760.00 - $221,640.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
