Responsibilities
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and production support of custom mechanical solutions, including rack systems, enclosures, and other customized mechanical assemblies. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Mechanical Design & Development
- Design and develop custom rack systems, mechanical enclosures, and other custom mechanical assemblies according to customer and business requirements.
- Generate detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, assemblies, and documentation in compliance with engineering standards and best practices.
- Conduct design reviews, tolerance analysis, and design verification activities to ensure product functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Engineering Documentation & Release
- Convert engineering designs into production-ready documentation, including manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), assembly instructions, and related release documents.
- Ensure all engineering documentation is accurate, complete, and properly maintained through document control processes.
- Production Support & Problem Resolution
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, production, and supply chain teams during prototype and first-build activities.
- Provide timely technical support to resolve design, manufacturing, assembly, and quality-related issues encountered during production.
- Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurring production challenges.
- Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization
- Identify and implement design improvements that enhance product quality, manufacturability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Proactively seek cost-reduction opportunities through design optimization, material selection, standardization, and process improvements.
- Support value engineering initiatives to achieve business cost and performance objectives.
- Technology & Innovation
- Actively embrace and leverage emerging technologies, digital engineering tools, and AI-powered solutions to improve design efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in mechanical design and manufacturing technologies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work effectively with internal stakeholders, including engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and project management teams.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to technical discussions to ensure successful project execution.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Undertake other engineering, technical, or business-related assignments as delegated by the manager to support organizational objectives and priorities.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities as business needs evolve.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline from a recognized institution.
- Preferably 2–3 years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or related engineering functions.
- Experience in designing sheet metal parts, racks, enclosures, or custom mechanical systems is highly desirable.
- Fresh graduates with strong academic achievements and relevant internship/project experience may also be considered.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD design software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in generating engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), and production documentation.
- Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication, machining, assembly processes, and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, engineering standards, and manufacturing requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset with a passion for innovation and operational excellence.
- Open-minded and adaptable to learning new technologies, including AI-enabled engineering and productivity tools.
- Positive attitude, willingness to embrace change, and readiness to take on additional responsibilities when required.
