We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Gyprock Manufacturing team in Welshpool, WA on an 18-month fixed-term contract. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering significant capital projects and process improvements within a major manufacturing operation.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of site capital works projects, with a strong focus on mechanical installation, vendor management, contractor coordination, commissioning, and safety.

The Opportunity

As a Project Engineer, you will work closely with project teams, site operations, contractors, equipment vendors and consultants to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently and in line with budget, schedule and quality expectations.

This hands-on role will see you involved throughout the project lifecycle, from design reviews and planning through to installation, commissioning and project handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion CSR's commitment to safety and promote a strong safety-first culture.
• Ensure compliance with WHSE legislation, CSR standards, policies and procedures.
• Monitor and oversee safety aspects of mechanical installation and vendor activities on site.
• Act as the primary liaison between equipment vendors, installation contractors and the CSR project team.
• Coordinate vendor activities during installation and commissioning phases.
• Manage interfaces between vendor requirements and construction activities.
• Support commissioning and performance validation of equipment and systems.
• Monitor installation quality, resolve technical issues, and drive defect close-out activities.
• Engage with builders, contractors and subcontractors to ensure work sequencing aligns with project requirements.
• Participate in daily and weekly project coordination meetings.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers and vendors to resolve technical issues.
• Manage as-built documentation and support successful project handover to operations teams.
• Support project planning, scheduling, forecasting and budget monitoring.
• Assist with project reporting including timelines, costs, risks and variations.
• Track vendor and contractor deliverables to ensure project milestones are achieved.
• Maintain installation and commissioning schedules.
  
  

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of strong mechanical engineering expertise, project delivery experience, and exceptional stakeholder management skills.

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (Electrical)
• Approximately 3-5 years experience delivering projects within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proven experience in mechanical installation and commissioning of manufacturing equipment and systems.
• Experience with materials handling equipment, conveyors, crushing and screening systems, or kiln processes will be highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience managing contractors, vendors and external stakeholders.
• Strong project coordination capabilities across multiple workstreams.
• Experience with AutoCAD or Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) will be viewed favourably.
• Sound commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and scheduling.
