We are looking for a Renewable Energy Engineer to support our Malaysia and regional Energy Team in delivering renewable energy and low-carbon technology projects.

The Opportunity

The role involves electrical engineering design, technical analysis, specification documentation, and project bid preparation. You will contribute to project delivery across all stages, from pre-feasibility studies and concept design to detailed design.

  • Work independently within a defined scope, contributing to the design and engineering of solar power plants, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and high-voltage substations across Malaysia and the region.
  • Perform design reviews of electrical drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.
  • Conduct technical due diligence for renewable energy projects, assessing feasibility, risks, and technical performance to support investment decisions.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of your work while reviewing and providing guidance on the work of others. Support the professional development of junior engineers through mentorship, training, and feedback.
  • Contribute to project development and execution, including system design, technical documentation while meeting project deadlines and budgets.
  • Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, bids, and client engagement for new project opportunities.
  • Represent the team in external meetings, stakeholder engagements, and technical discussions, ensuring effective communication of engineering solutions.
  • Participate in internal initiatives and knowledge-sharing activities, contributing to continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

Is this role right for you?

The ideal candidate has a strong electrical engineering background and experience in renewable energy projects.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or related area;
  • Relevant industry experience and technical knowledge in the renewable energy sector, preferably in solar PV within a consulting business environment with 3-6 years of experience;
  • Well verse with the relevant engineering software such as PVsyst and HomerPro;
  • Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership;
  • Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines

Skills & Attributes

  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels in both technical and non-technical environments;
  • Effective written communication and report writing skills;
  • Ability to maintain personal effectiveness particularly during periods of higher-than-normal workload;
  • Ability to remain positively motivated and foster team spirit at times of significant pressure, including assisting others to meet deadlines;
  • Desire to excel.
