
NetApp Storage Engineer
The Storage Administrator will be responsible for managing enterprise storage environments with a strong focus on NetApp platforms and large scale storage migration initiatives. The role requires hands on expertise in NetApp administration, migration planning, and execution, including on premises to cloud migrations, ensuring minimal business disruption and adherence to enterprise standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support enterprise storage infrastructure with a primary focus on NetApp ONTAP environments.
- Lead and execute NetApp storage migration projects, including on premises to on premises and on premises to cloud migrations.
- Design and implement end to end storage migration solutions, including:
- Data assessment and discovery
- Migration strategy and execution plan
- Cutover and rollback planning
- Perform data migrations using NetApp native migration tools and StorageX migration tools.
- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams to align migration schedules and dependencies.
- Ensure data integrity, performance validation, and post migration verification.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex storage and migration related issues.
- Prepare and maintain migration documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Adhere to enterprise change management, security, and compliance processes.
- 10+ years of overall experience in Storage Administration.
- 5+ years of hands on experience in NetApp storage administration.
- 3+ years of experience in NetApp storage migration projects, preferably involving On Prem to Cloud migrations.
- Strong hands on experience with:
- NetApp ONTAP (Clustered)
- NetApp native migration tools (SnapMirror, SnapVault, XCP)
- StorageX migration tools
- Proven experience in designing and implementing detailed migration solutions and plans.
- Strong understanding of NAS technologies and protocols (NFS, CIFS/SMB).
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP) for storage migration targets.
- Experience with large scale data center migration or exit programs.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
