Rosehill High School in East Lothian seeks to appoint a maternity cover for the role of Curriculum Leader (Principal Teacher) of Expressive Arts.

Rosehill opened in August 2023 and has rapidly expanded, with a roll of around 600 learners in S1-S5 and further growth is anticipated year on year. Rosehill is situated on the Wallyford Learning Campus, a state-of-the-art education provision which., alongside the education provision, hosts teams from communities, health, and sport and leisure. Rosehill is also home to the Brae, our large severe and complex needs provision.

The postholder will join a vibrant faculty providing Art and Design, Drama, Music, Music Tech and Photography. Our Expressive Arts team is committed to ensuring that all young people can benefit from a high-quality arts education, including a vibrant programme of co-curricular activities.

The Post Holder Must Be Able To

  • Play a full role in the leadership of whole school as well as faculty improvement priorities
  • Work collaboratively and collegiately with others to support the wellbeing and learning of young people
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of learning, teaching and assessment, as applied to an exciting and challenging curriculum
  • Make appropriate use of data, in its widest sense, to plan for achievement and attainment
  • Engage in meaningful professional learning with a clear focus on improving outcomes

Job Details

Subject to the policies of the school and East Lothian Council, the duties of a Principal Teacher, as a member of the school's management team, is to perform such tasks as the Head Teacher/Depute Head Teacher will direct, having reasonable regard to the overall workload of a classroom teacher.

Please Note - Pay arrangements for those starting after 1st day of school session

In accordance with Teachers Conditions of Service (SNCT - Appendix 2.19), Teachers who commence employment with East Lothian Council after the first day of the school session will have their salary for the remainder of the school salary year (which runs from 1 August to 31 July each year), recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue leave and pay.

In these circumstances, a calculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and leave and pay will be adjusted. Further information will be provided to the successful candidate should this be applicable.
