Job Description

As a Product Controller within the International Consumer Bank (ICB), you will support financial integrity, product control, and regulatory reporting across retail banking products including deposits, credit cards, and personal investing.

You will operate at the intersection of product control, close governance, and external reporting, ensuring accurate financial outcomes through a strong controls-first mindset, proactive issue identification, and root-cause remediation. This role requires strong accounting expertise, analytical capability, and the ability to partner effectively with senior stakeholders in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end product control and financial governance for ICB retail products
  • Execute monthly close activities including journal processing, balance sheet substantiation, and adherence to reporting timelines
  • Perform variance analysis and financial analytics, with clear articulation of key drivers and business impacts
  • Review and validate financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reconciliation integrity
  • Support preparation and governance of external financial disclosures and regulatory submissions
  • Apply and enhance control frameworks, including tie-outs, proofing, and cross-report validations
  • Proactively identify and resolve data, process, and system breaks, driving root-cause analysis and sustainable remediation
  • Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Risk, Treasury, Compliance, and Technology to ensure end-to-end process alignment
  • Represent Controllers in cross-functional forums, communicating accounting and reporting implications clearly
  • Support internal and external audits through documentation, walkthroughs, and issue resolution
  • Drive automation, process simplification, and reporting efficiency initiatives and contribute to change programs and new product initiatives, ensuring controls are embedded from design to BAU

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • 7+ years of experience in Finance, Controllers, Product Control, or Regulatory Reporting within a financial services environment
  • Professional accounting qualification
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP with exposure to UK GAAP / IFRS
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of PowerPoint and Word
  • Strong controls mindset with focus on accuracy, audit readiness, and documentation quality
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables under tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root-cause resolution
  • Effective stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • Experience supporting retail banking products (e.g., deposits, credit cards)
  • Exposure to regulatory reporting and external disclosures in a global financial institution
  • Experience in process improvement, automation, and control enhancement initiatives
  • Familiarity with change management and product launches in a controlled environment
