Progress OpenEdge Developer

We're looking for an experienced developer to join our client's team. In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining, modernizing, and extending business-critical applications within a hybrid environment that combines classic ABL development with modern API-driven architectures. Collaborating closely with analysts, project managers, and end users, you'll work alongside other experts in a supportive and dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications using ABL (Advanced Business Language).
• Design and optimize database access for OpenEdge DB.
• Build and expose APIs using OpenEdge Studio.
• Analyze and improve performance concerning queries, locking, and transactions.
• Integrate with both internal and external systems.
  
  
  

Profile of the Ideal Candidate

Must-have skills:

• Strong experience with Progress OpenEdge / ABL.
• Solid understanding of:
  • Temp-tables, datasets, and buffers.
  • Transactions and locking techniques (NO-LOCK, SHARE-LOCK, EXCLUSIVE-LOCK).
• Experience in OpenEdge database design and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of APIs.
• Familiarity with PASOE (Progress Application Server).
  
  

Nice-to-have skills:

• Experience with .NET.
• Modern IDEs, such as Progress Developer Studio / PDSOE.
• APIDOG.
