An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Materials Engineer to join our Kidlington based Manufacturing department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.

About The Role

As Senior Materials Engineer you’ll lead the development and optimisation of materials and related processes for FZ products. This involves ensuring materials are available for selection that meet customer requirements and industry standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams, conducting material testing and analysis, managing data and staying updated with advancements in materials science to enhance product performance and customer satisfaction

What You Will Do

  • Lead the development and optimisation of materials and related processes for new and existing products, ensuring they deliver to meet customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to drive material innovation and product improvements.
  • Conduct material testing and analysis to evaluate performance, durability, and sustainability, reviewing and managing the data through integrated systems.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on material selection, processing techniques, and failure analysis.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in materials science and technology and apply this knowledge to enhance product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, research institutions, and industry partners to source new materials and technologies.
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and team members where applicable in their professional development.

About You

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in materials engineering, preferably in a customer-focused product development environment.
  • Strong knowledge of material properties, characterization techniques, and manufacturing processes.
  • Broad exposure to different materials characterisations
  • Proven track record of successfully leading material development projects from concept to implementation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with CAD software, material simulation tools, and data analysis software is a plus
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends and advancements
