Role Summary

The Senior Scientific Officer will oversee high-complexity laboratory testing, ensure compliance with NABL/ISO standards, and guide technical teams to maintain accuracy, quality, and seamless workflow. The role includes advanced result validation, troubleshooting, equipment oversight, documentation, and supporting audits and quality initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Laboratory Operations

  • Conduct and validate advanced diagnostic tests across assigned disciplines.
  • Oversee daily sample processing and workflow management.
  • Ensure high accuracy in result interpretation and reporting.
  • Supervise equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to NABL/ISO quality standards and biosafety protocols.
  • Lead daily QC review, document deviations, and manage EQAS participation.
  • Maintain audit-ready quality documentation and support internal/external audits.

Team Support & Leadership

  • Guide Junior Scientific Staff and Technologists in routine operations.
  • Ensure training, competency assessment, and SOP adherence.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance lab efficiency.

Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure TAT adherence.
  • Escalate non-conformities and participate in root cause analysis.
  • Manage reagent inventory, stock planning, and lot verifications.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Oversee accurate LIS-based reporting and data review.
  • Maintain equipment logs, QC records, and technical documentation.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical expertise in diagnostic laboratory testing
  • In-depth understanding of NABL/ISO standards
  • Hands-on experience with automated analyzers
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and troubleshooting skills
  • Leadership capabilities and team coordination
  • Proficiency in LIS and MS Office tools

Preferred Profile

  • 4–7 years of experience in diagnostic laboratory operations
  • Exposure to Molecular, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Hematology workflows
  • Experience working in NABL-accredited labs
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and process improvement capability
