Position Overview

Title: Assembler

Reports To: Manufacturing Manager

Location: West Jordan, UT

As an Assembler A, you will plan and perform diversified mechanical and electrical assembly operations to assemble intricate or large and expensive equipment. You will also guide and check the work of Assemblers of lower classification and Production Assistants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assembly Planning: Plan mechanical assemblies to be done by yourself or others. Perform planning and layout work utilizing available space for best workmanship and results.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform fitting, aligning, and adjustments to ensure proper flow, layout, and free action of movable parts and operating requirements. Recognize defective parts and direct others in unit testing.
  • Tool Usage: Use a wide variety of assembly and test fixtures, and hand and power tools.
  • Safety Compliance: Observe company safety rules and use assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Operate cranes or forklifts (as certified) to move larger/heavier items.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other work as required by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum five years of mechanical experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Demonstrates A Player Competencies: Aptitude, Alliance, Agility, Accountability, Awareness & Anticipation.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude.
    • Cooperative attitude and ability to function effectively as a team member.
    • Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office and ERP programs.
    • Knowledge of design, layout, mechanical principles, and product operation.
    • Detail-oriented with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, measuring devices, and Work Instructions.
    • Skill with mechanical assembly techniques.
    • Basic welding knowledge and skill with safe operation of hand and power tools.
    • Ability to operate overhead crane and/or forklift.
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to bend, reach, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Good spatial orientation, eye-hand coordination, and eyesight.
  • Normal color vision, demonstrated by identifying various wire colors.
