The Institute for Innovation and Translation (IIT) is set out with the vision to support the University in pioneering innovation and technology translation. With the mission to drive strategic alliances, collaborations, multidisciplinary research and development and their applications, IIT consists of two sections, namely Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Technology Translation, which will provide all-rounded business development and translational research support for the University in response to the challenges and opportunities worldwide and also specifically under the aegis of the government’s priority on innovation and technology development.
Report to the Director of Technology Translation or his/her delegate(s), the candidate will station at an off-campus office located at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks providing support to a translational research laboratory located at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks.
Technical Officer / Assistant Technical Officer (26270063)
Responsibilities:
The appointee will perform the following duties:
- To provide technical support and troubleshooting for daily operation of the laboratory;
- To manage and plan maintenance of equipment and inventory;
- To implement laboratory safety and other operational guidelines;
- To assist in procurement of consumables, chemicals and equipment;
- To deliver equipment and safety training to users;
- To liaise with other members of the IIT, the University, and external parties in providing various supports.
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree or above from a recognised university in the science field;
- At least 5 years’ solid work experience in laboratory science discipline;
- Experience in laboratory equipment operation;
- Experience in bio-medical research is considered a plus;
- A passionate and dynamic individual who possesses strong analytical and interpersonal skills, is attentive to details, and is a self-starter with the ability to work under pressure;
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English, Cantonese, Putonghua.
Applicants with less relevant work experience may be considered for the post of Assistant Technical Officer. The appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
