Work may involve assessing existing claims for proper documentation and completeness; reviewing claims for correct application of laws and procedures; evaluating action taken by rating boards in rating veteransand#8217; claims for benefits and taking necessary corrective action for successful adjudication of veteransand#8217; claims for benefits.To promote a strong environment, TVC maintains a telework policy. Telework is not a contract of employment and if granted may be terminated at any time and for any reason without notice.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:and#183; Develops, reviews, and files claims and supporting evidence for successful adjudication.and#183; Coordinates staff activity in the development and adjudication of existing claims and appeals.and#183; Reviews work of staff to determine compliance with applicable legal requirements, agency policies and accepted standards.and#183; Consults and instructs with Claim Advisors and VCSOs (Veteran County Service Officers) concerning veteranand#8217;s claims work and related problems.and#183; Understands and applies Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) rules and regulations when reviewing VA documents and veterans claim submissions.and#183; Evaluates and analyzes existing benefit claims and determines appropriate action necessary to complete processing and adjudication.Military Crosswalk information:https://hr.sao.texas.gov/Compensation/MilitaryCrosswalk/MOSC_SocialServices.pdf

Qualifications: Minimum Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in social work, business management, political science or a related field. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. College Transcripts are required and must be provided before an interview can be extended, it is preferred they be attached to the application.Minimum Experience:Three (3) years of specialized experience assisting with documentation to determine basic eligibility for benefits or programs, preferably VBA experience.Additional Requirements: A valid Texas Driverand#8217;s License must be provided within 90 days of hire.Preferred Experience and Qualification:and#183; Honorably discharged veteran preferred.and#183; Experience in filing benefit claims with the Department of Veteran AffairsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:and#183; Knowledge of VA rules and regulations and VA databases such as, VBMS, SHARE, and CASEFLOW.and#183; Skill in the use of personal computers. Microsoft Office Suite strongly preferred.and#183; Ability to interpret laws, rules, and regulations applicable to the processing of veteransand#8217; claims.and#183; Ability to maintain efficient and effective relationships with stakeholderAbility to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Environmental Physical Conditions:Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds.
