About the Client
Our client is a well-established insurer with a long-standing presence in the regional market, offering a broad portfolio of general insurance solutions across commercial and consumer segments. It’s a wholly-owned subsidiary of a Hong Kong listed company. Due to ongoing business expansion, they are seeking an experienced underwriting professional to take on a leadership role within the team.
Our client is also looking for a Senior Underwriter, Reinsurance Assistant Manager and an Assistant Business Manager to help with business growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee underwriting activities across multiple general insurance classes, including both direct business and reinsurance
• Formulate and implement underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, and portfolio strategies to balance growth and profitability
• Evaluate risks, pricing, and terms to ensure sound underwriting decisions aligned with business objectives
• Support reinsurance arrangements, including renewal processes, contract review, and data preparation
• Monitor portfolio performance against targets, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions
• Contribute to product development, enhancement initiatives, and market analysis
• Maintain strong working relationships with distribution partners and internal stakeholders
• Support operational efficiency initiatives and ensure compliance with internal policies
• Lead, mentor, and develop team members
Candidate Profile
• Degree holder in Insurance, Risk Management, or a related discipline; ANZIIF and CIP is a plus
• Solid track record in general insurance underwriting and reinsurance, with prior supervisory or managerial exposure
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage both risk and business growth
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluent in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin preferred)
