NNSL Media is the umbrella of Northern News Services Limited’s seven weekly newspapers, two websites, and an array of social media channels across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

News/North is the elder news hound in the Northwest Territories, in 2020 celebrating 75 years of news week in, week out. News/North reported on the Dene and Inuit NWT before division in 1999 and the creation of Nunavut. Nunavut News was born shortly after and the two publications cover the sub arctic and arctic regions of Canada, from Fort Liard to Pond Inlet, Arviat to Tuktoyaktuk and the 58 Northern communities.

The twice weekly Yellowknifer turned 48 years old this year, covering the capital, Dettah and Ndilo, as did the Hay River Hub, covering Hay River and K’atl’odeeche First Nation. For 56 years, Inuvik Drum has been covering Inuvik and the Beaufort Delta – Ulukhaktok, Holman Island, Paulatuk, Sachs Harbour. In 1994, Kivalliq News with an office in Rankin Inlet began covering Baker Lake, Chesterfield Inlet, Coral Harbour, Naujaat, Whale Cove and Arviat.

All the publications feed news into nunavutnews.com (120,000 sessions monthly) and nnsl.com (200,000 sessions monthly) seven days a week.

Special editions of the newspapers focus on social issues, from Seniors to Health, Recreation to Agriculture. Then there are the annual publications. Education in Nunavut and the NWT is the focus of Degrees of Success. Opportunities North, now in it 37th year, is a thick pan-territorial report on everything from furs to fish to rock, all industries in the North. NWT and Nunavut Mining digs deep into the mining industry, production and the intensely important exploration sector. NWT and Nunavut construction delves into the projects building the two territories.
