About KTH Environmental Humanities Laboratory

The research centre Environmental Humanities Laboratory (EHL) is a global leader in environmental humanities, mainly for taking on a critical approach. Our energy derives from the increasing demand for human and social knowledge to meet global challenges.

We aim to shape a post-disciplinary intellectual environment that innovatively combines education, research, and graduate training and applies humanities knowledge to favour sustainable development.

With our base at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, we emphasise developing interdisciplinary connections across the university but always seek to foster partnerships outside academia. We connect to civil society community groups, governmental organisations, and other public and private institutions to help demonstrate the value of the environmental humanities for a just, green transition.

Our educational programme trains a new generation of historians and others to become capable, integrated environmental humanists.
