Agriculture employs more than 80% of Uganda’s population—a majority of whom are smallholder farmers. Unfortunately, the sector is plagued by a host of challenges including poor access to extension services, low technological adoption, lack of access to quality inputs, lack of access to affordable credit, changing climatic conditions, and many others. These challenges exacerbate food insecurity, extreme poverty, nutritional problems (especially among children), diseases, and other challenges.

m-Omulimisa -- an Agtech company based in Uganda, leverages the power of technology, farmer-network building, and partnerships to provide agriculture services: inputs demand aggregation and distribution, e-extension services, crop insurance, and output marketing, financed through affordable credit. The model relies on farmer networks, mutually beneficial partnerships with seed companies, off-takers, insurance companies, and microfinance institutions to address agriculture challenges.
