Overview

About Movimento Inclusão Efetiva

mie. = Movimento Inclusão Efetiva / Movement for True Inclusion is a community of over 10,000 members, born from our daily struggle — as parents, relatives, friends, and professionals — for a fairer, more empathetic, and truly inclusive society.

Founded in 2022, our story began with the life experience of our Founder, Lourenço Santos, and his son Pedro, who has global developmental delay and a chromosomal alteration. The first challenges with Pedro’s education quickly emerged—unfortunately, challenges that are all too familiar to many other families who soon joined MIE: endless bureaucracy, lack of appropriate support, exclusion, prejudice, and silence.

In this community, we aim to:
• Share stories, initiatives, struggles, and achievements;
• Give voice to those who are so often unheard;
• Expose injustices, inequalities, abuse, and critical system failures that affect children with special needs.

MIE is a movement of awareness and action.
• We believe inclusion is not a favor, it is a right.
• We fight so that no child is left behind.
• We fight for respect from parents, educators, classmates, and everyone involved in the educational journey.

We believe we are stronger together, and that the future will only be truly inclusive if we start changing mindsets today.

Together, we’re building a future where every child belongs, is valued, and has the opportunity to thrive.
