The Ndebele Students Association (NSA) is a multi-award-winning organization dedicated to representing, preserving, and promoting the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Ndebele people at the university level. Founded with the mission to ensure the Ndebele language and culture are celebrated and integrated within the academic environment, the NSA is a beacon of cultural pride and academic excellence. Our Mission We strive to: Advocate for the inclusion of isiNdebele as a part of African languages taught at universities. Preserve and promote Ndebele culture and traditions through educational and cultural programs. Empower Ndebele students by providing a supportive community that fosters academic and personal growth. Our Reach With active branches at 10 prominent South African universities, including Wits University, University of Pretoria, University of Johannesburg, Tshwane University of Technology, University of Free State, University of Limpopo, Nelson Mandela University, Sefako Makgatho University, North-West University, and University of Mpumalanga, the NSA is a formidable force in the academic and cultural landscape. Our Work Educational Advocacy: We work tirelessly to ensure the Ndebele language and cultural studies are recognized and included in university curricula. Cultural Preservation: Through various outreach programs, events, and collaborations with traditional leaders and the Ndebele monarch, we keep our heritage alive and vibrant. Student Support: Our association provides a nurturing environment for Ndebele students, offering resources, mentorship, and opportunities for leadership development. Recognitions and Collaborations: The NSA is recognized by Parliament and works closely with various traditional leaders and the Ndebele monarch to champion our cause. Our efforts have not only garnered accolades but have also set a benchmark for cultural student organizations nationwide.
