Overview
About Ongava Research Centre
Ongava Research Centre is a small independent institute, located on the south-western edge of Namibia's Etosha National Park. Our institutional identity very much revolves around everything dryland ecology. As a part of the Ongava Game Reserve, we also place an emphasis on dryland management, particularly within the Greater Etosha Landscape. Despite our relatively modest capacity, our resident team represents a broad spectrum of disciplines and professional experiences. Our in-house research themes range from carbon cycling to carnivore ecology and environmental sociology. Importantly, we are also well-equipped to host and support visiting researchers and are welcoming to a variety of academic backgrounds. Our associate network spans the globe and we have fostered longstanding collaborations and partnerships - and are always open to more. We are especially enthusiastic about supporting Namibian postgraduate students and Namibian-led research.
