Open Dialogue Israel is a public benefit company (PBC) founded in 2018 by mental health professionals and activists with lived experience. Weโre leading a grassroots movement to transform Israelโs mental health landscape through the Open Dialogue approach โ without government support and entirely powered by private and public fundraising.
Open Dialogue is a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented method for treating mental health crises through respectful, collaborative meetings with individuals and their social networks, usually in the personโs home. Recognized by the World Health Organization as one of the worldโs most effective rights-based interventions, it fosters resilience and trust during acute psychological distress.
Our mission is to reduce unnecessary hospitalization, stigma, and the โrevolving doorโ effect by making publicly funded Open Dialogue treatment widely accessible. We train teams within existing institutions, guiding them through a transition from traditional psychiatry to holistic, community-based models of care.
In response to the October 7th events and the national mental health emergency that followed, we launched Dialogues of Hopeโa community-based crisis intervention service in partnership with Hiram. Together, weโre supporting survivors, evacuees, families of hostages, and soldiers.
๐ Impact So Far:
2,800+ attendees in intro lectures
750+ professionals in 2-day workshops (incl. Rambam & Safed hospitals)
120+ trained OD practitioners
First public OD clinic opened in Acre (2024)
200+ private sector therapy recipients | 80+ in public pilot (Mazor)
โฉ Whatโs Next:
Scale pilot programs nationwide
Double workshop reach within 12 months
Double OD therapy beneficiaries within 24 months
๐ค We welcome collaborationโresearch, knowledge exchange, and funding partners.
