About Operation Helo
In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, as roads remained impassable and communities stood isolated, a diverse group of volunteers in Hickory, North Carolina, came together to offer hope from above. With helicopters loaded with life-saving supplies—diapers, insulin, food, and water—we flew into areas unreachable by land, delivering aid to those in the hardest-hit regions.
What began as an impromptu effort fueled by word of mouth and social media has grown into Operation Helo—a nationwide mission of compassion, resilience, and teamwork. From the mountains of North Carolina to communities in Virginia, Texas, and Colorado, our volunteer pilots, veterans, first responders, and ground crews continue to bridge the gap when traditional relief cannot.
Our purpose is simple but urgent: when disaster strikes, we fly. With the largest volunteer helicopter network in the nation, we bring help and hope to those who need it most—no matter how far, how isolated, or how dire the need.
