About The Outback Way
Successful campaigns have secured over $400M to seal & upgrade sections of the Outback Way the link from Perth to Cairns- sealing project over 8 years 2018/19- 2025/26
• Coordination and communication with 26 organization involved in the Outback Way project
• Secretariat for OHDC Inc – Liaising with 5 shire councils as financial members, meetings, actions, tourism marketing, product development and effectively lobbying state and federal governments.
• Administration of $200,000 budget.
• Effective implementation of project development with Qld, NT, WA & Federal governments.
• Outback Way Outdoor Art Gallery to be launched July/August 2020.
Successes:
• Friends of the Outback Way- Bipartisan group in Federal Parliament started 2009
• Tri-partisan support & launch of the Outback Way- Australia’s Longest Shortcut 2008
• $20million funding- Federal, NT, WA & Qld matching funding to upgrade sections along the 1700km of dirt between Laverton WA to Winton Qld. 2006/07
• $487,390 Tourism project- Launched Outback Way -Australia’s Longest Shortcut November 2008
• Indigenous Tourism development and promotion.

The OHDC Inc, financial members are Laverton Shire, Ngaanyatjarra Shire, Alice Springs Town Council, Boulia Shire and Winton Shire Councils.
