About Outreach youth
Outreach youth is the only specialist LGBT*Q+ charity in Suffolk, UK.
It supports and works with young LGBT*Q+ people and their families, creating safe, supportive spaces where they feel they belong and are celebrated.
We achieve this through the following:
LGBT*Q+ youth groups provide staffed spaces for young people to meet, participate in planned youth work activities, and have fun. Our primary provision is an open group that young people choose to attend.
One-to-One Support – offers an individual a safe space with an experienced youth worker where young people who are LGBT*Q+ or questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity can explore their feelings and assist them in developing a positive sense of self.
SOUL - empowering and celebrating young people of colour from the LGBT*Q+ communities in Suffolk.
Online Trans* youth group - supporting young Trans* people who live in rural areas of Suffolk or who are not able or ready to attend a youth group.
Trans* Families - a monthly group for parents and carers of Trans* and Gender Diverse children, where parents/carers can seek peer support and knowledge and share experiences in supporting their child.
Social Action projects - young LGBT*Q+ people work on social action projects supported by youth workers, including organising Pride and LGBT*Q+ History Month events.
LGBT*Q+ youth Counselling - youth workers can refer individual young people with specific support needs to our specialist LGBT*Q+ counsellor.
Schools Work - supporting schools in working with LGBT*Q+ children and young people and establishing LGBT*Q+ groups in school.
As a youth work organisation, young people are at the centre of our work and we co-produce all our work and developments within the charity to meet the changing local needs of young LGBT*Q+ people.
