About Robotics Institute Germany
The Robotics Institute Germany (RIG) is Germany’s central hub for AI-driven robotics. The institute is an initiative that the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) has been funding with 20 million euros over four years since 2024.RIG comprises 14 German universities and research institutions. There are also 20+ associated partners. The aim is to connect leading robotics locations in Germany, increase international visibility, attract talent, and accelerate progress in AI-powered robotics.
RIG’s mission is to position Germany as the world leader in embodied AI by focusing on five strategic pillars: excellence in research, talent development, infrastructure, benchmarking, and technology transfer. By bridging academia and industry, RIG fosters a unique innovation ecosystem set to drive the next industrial revolution and establish “Made in Germany” as a global hallmark of intelligent robotics.
