About SAL Doctoral College (SAL-DC)
The Silicon Austria Labs – Doctoral College (SAL-DC) is a doctoral training program dedicated to advancing research in the field of Electronics and Software Based Systems (ESBS). Our mission is to empower future research leaders by providing a comprehensive and interdisciplinary training environment.
At SAL-DC, we collaborate with industry, academic, and scientific partners on regional, national, and international levels to build an excellent research network and ecosystem for ESBS. Our fellows benefit from training in a highly international, interdisciplinary, and intersectoral setting, designed to equip them with the skills needed to pursue cutting-edge research.
Our program is structured around three major pillars:
- PhD Enrollment: Each candidate enrolls in a PhD program offered by a local partner university, tailored to their chosen research topic and supervised by experts in the field. This ensures specialized training that meets the specific needs of their research.
- Knowledge Exchange: Candidates actively participate in knowledge exchange and collaborations among all SAL-DC students. We foster this exchange through a vibrant ESBS ecosystem and dedicated summer and winter schools.
- Internships: Candidates are encouraged to undertake short- to mid-term internships at academic or industrial partner organizations. These internships provide intersectoral professional training and help candidates develop their professional skills and networks for future career prospects.
Join us at SAL-DC and become part of a dynamic community that is shaping the future of EBS research. Our program not only strengthens the general skills of our candidates but also ensures they benefit from the highly specialized knowledge of experts in their respective fields. Through our comprehensive training and collaborative environment, we prepare our students to become leaders in the ever-evolving world of ESBS.
