About Sony Computer Science Laboratories
Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc. (Sony CSL) was established in February 1988. At Sony CSL, each researcher sets his or her own goals and carries out research based on the basic research themes of Sony CSL. All research results are published in the name of the individual researcher. This is because we believe that research is essentially the voluntary work of individuals or groups of individuals of their own free will, and that the institute should be a supporting entity. In addition, individual achievements are evaluated based on their overall impact, which consists of many dimensions, such as contributions to humanity and society, academic progress, industrial development, and products. In this environment, researchers conduct research for the benefit of the world and people, and aim to change the world with the results of their research. In some cases, the results are returned to society through the activities of the Sony Group, while in other cases, researchers start their own businesses and commercialize them. Sony CSL researchers with different disciplines stimulate each other to create new research areas and research paradigms, to create new technologies and new businesses, and to contribute to humanity and society.
