St Mary's Hospice

St Mary’s Hospice provides clinical, emotional, spiritual and practical support for anyone living with a life-shortening illness, as well as for those closest to them. Our care is delivered at the Hospice in Ulverston, at our Compassionate Communities Hub in Barrow, in people’s homes and out in the wider community. We support individuals from the moment of diagnosis and their families for as long as they need us.

Our care is, and always will be, free for everyone to access, but sadly, it is not free to provide. It costs over £6 million each year to run all of our services and we receive only around one fifth of this from the NHS. The remaining funds come from the generosity of our incredible community, meaning the care of eight out of ten of our patients is made possible by local support. We exist for our community and because of our community.
