About Stichting Duurzaam Verpakkingsglas (SDV)
The Stichting Duurzaam Verpakkingsglas (SDV) is promoting and improving the recycling of packaging glass. Glass is 100% recyclable and does not lose any quality by doing so. 1 kg of recycled glass is converted to 1 kg of new glass product, without any losses.
Recycling of glass is very important to achieve our goals for the Paris climate agreement and the circular economy.
The glass furnaces in The Netherlands are already using high percentages of cullet (recycled glass) in their process, thanks to a high collection rate of 86% by the Dutch municipals and cities. Of course we would like to increase these numbers even further. Therefore we need a higher volume of good quality of glass.
The SDV is triving to do so.
The non-profit organization has members of both packing glass producers in The Netherlands (O-I and Ardagh), the recycling company Maltha and an independent member.
